This green tube holds Weleda's most Iconic product, which boasts a cult celebrity following including Victoria Beckham and Adele. I have to admit this is one of my favourite Weleda product products, I adore the scent and the texture but most of all I adore it's versatility. The formula has been around since 1926 which means it has stood the test of time.
I was lucky enough to visit Weleda HQ in Derbyshire and part of the days events involved a demonstration of making a body lotion. During the talk the Weleda staff spoke about two different types of emulsion a water in oil emulsion and an oil in water emulsion. Weleda Skinfood is a water in oil emulsion, which means that the oil content is far greater than in your average body lotion which is mostly water, so it performs more like a balm. The thickness is something I have seen people comment on in reviews, if you are used to very light body lotions then this may take you by surprise, but it's a winter skin saviour for anyone who suffers from very dry or rough skin.
This product has the most amazing scent from a very unique essential oil blend, I have never smelt another product quite like it, it's fresh but with a herbal warmth that is comforting and is quite unmistakeable with sweet orange and lavender, quite simply gorgeous. I have bought so many tubes of this over the years, it's one product that I always keep in the house and am never without.
This contains extracts of wild pansy, calendula, chamomile and rosemary. Calendula and chamomile are known for their soothing properties and rosemary can perk up tired complexions whilst the wild pansy also has soothing and healing properties, not to mention it is just beautiful!

This is a multi-tasking product that I pick up whenever my skin is in need of some serious moisture, it can be used on the face and the body to any dry patches. I use this on my feet by applying a thick layer and popping on a pair of socks and you wake up to super soft skin, in fact the softest my skin has ever been. When applying a little goes a long way especially on the face, so a light hand is best.
You can read more about my trip to Weleda in my post on the biodynamic gardens which also explains more about the ingredients and farming methods used by the brand as well as the brands heritage.
This is one of my favourite products from one of my favourite brands, with a formula this good it's no surprise that this product has remained a hero product and industry favourite for years. You can find all Weleda products on the website, this costs £8.95 for 75 mls. Do you love this hero product? Are you tempted to try it?

I would try it but for the lanolin. It does sound good though and have heard so many good things about it. Love the vivid green packaging :) x
ReplyDeleteYes it is a shame that it's not vegan but I think the lanolin is what makes it so effective to be honest. I know Weleda source their lanolin responsibly but it's still a personal choice. The Weleda packaging is lovely and bright Xx
DeleteSounds like a wonder, bummer about the lanolin...I just get too icked out to use anything with that in it :P I love the packaging, it looks so energizing and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteYes I know quite a few people share your view on lanolin, I have to say this the only product I use with it in, but I just love this formula so much I can't give it up! :) Xx
DeleteSounds worth to try. Sometimes I have dry and rough spots when the weather is cold. Thank you for sharing this review :)
