When it comes to body scrubs you have a few choices to make, namely Sugar versus Salt. Please, never never choose plastic micro-beads it is incredibly unnecessary and has a devastating effect on marine life and frankly who wants to be killing fish for smoother skin... not me anyway. Back to the Sugar versus salt debate, I have to admit to liking both but I find with my extremely dry skin I prefer a salt scrub for an all over once a week treatment and a sugar scrub for a mid week top up especially before shaving.
I have mentioned Cornish brand Bloom Remedies quite a few times on this blog before, apart from the lovely handmade selection of goodies she produces I would dare you to find a nicer person in this industry than founder Marie, deeply passionate and talented but also very grounded she is always such a pleasure to talk to. Products made with thought, care and attention but also certified organic ingredients at a great price make Bloom remedies a bit of a hidden gem if you are after natural skincare that is great quality but that won't break the bank. The brands latest additions are three body scrubs (£18 for 250 grams) made with a mix of Cornish and dead sea salts, salt is rich in minerals and excellent for exfoliating. Also added to the salt mix is whipped Shea Butter, olive and coconut oils all fantastically moisturising for the skin. What made me fall in love with this scrub from first use is the fact that the salt is held together by this nourishing mixture that essentially has a body butter texture, I dislike scrubs that are too wet because I feel like you waste so much, not the case with this scrub at all. You only need a small amount at a time to get smooth skin, I personally like to apply to dry skin but damp skin also works well and you don't need a moisturiser afterwards. I have been testing the Relax* scent which is blend of Ylang Ylang, Geranium, cedarwood, sweet orange and Patchouli and the essential oil mix is beautifully selected to be very unique. It has a relaxing and grounding element to it that is truly lovely and makes it pleasure to use. To make this scrub in to more of a holistic treatment smooth over body and massage with circular movements and jump in a warm bath letting the oils and butters as well as the salt infuse and calm the mind, in fact I am off to run a bath now.
This is a lovely scrub, whilst I do have other firm favourites (I am looking at you Bodhi and Birch and Essential care) there is nothing in my collection where you get this level of quality for this price point, so it is certainly a product I would buy again. If you are looking for something different in terms of scent you also have Revive which is a blend of Lemongrass, ginger, lime and cypress (sounds delicious!) or Restore which has Eucalyptus, tea tree, Peppermint and Rosemary for an invigorating treat.

I agree with you Ana, these are lovely! I love that the salt all stays together when you rub it on your skin so it doesn't just "fall off" like a lot of others! I've got Revive which is so uplifting and lovely :)
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than loosing half your scrub in the shower, hooray for scrubs that actually stay on the skin! I will try the revive next the essential oil blend sounds amazing! :) Xx
